Local Lawyers in Schools

Citizenship Foundation

Welcome to the Local Lawyers in Schools website!

Local Lawyers in Schools is a scheme developed by the Citizenship Foundation. The scheme places trainee and practising lawyers into the classroom to discuss and explore a range of legal issues to develop young people's awareness and understanding of the law.  Drawing on the lawyers' skills and knowledge, and our expertise in educational partnerships, groups of volunteers use specially created resources to work with small groups of students.

The Citizenship Foundation has been connecting legal professionals and schools for twenty years.  The materials used in Local Lawyers in Schools sessions have been used by lawyers and students across the UK since they were developed for the Lawyers in Schools Twinning Scheme, in association with Linklaters, in 1999.  This fully-supported programme now works with over 20 large law firms across the UK.  For more information about the Lawyers in Schools Twinning Scheme or to watch a short video please visit www.lawyersinschools.org.uk

Responding to popular demand, Local Lawyers in Schools has now been developed as a 'DIY' toolkit and training package to encourage and enable small and medium-sized legal organisations to get involved.  With the support of the Law Society of England & Wales we are pleased to announce the launch of the scheme and are delighted to offer law firms and in-house legal teams across the country the opportunity to join this exciting new project.
