The Local Lawyers in Schools sessions aim to develop young people's understanding of the law so that they can know their rights, understand their responsibilities and confidently navigate their way through the legal system knowing when and where to ask for help and further advice. This is an example of Public Legal Education (PLE).
The PLEnet website states that "Public legal education promotes access to justice by providing people with knowledge about the legal system, and awareness of their rights and how to enforce them - it also informs people about where and how to get help and advice. PLE also develops legal capability by improving the skills needed to anticipate and avoid problems."
